David Maclean

Through his purpose to increase people's access to education and learning institutions' revenue for the long term, David looks for ways to remove traditional boundaries to give more people easier access to good education.  

 

Having worked in both corporate and educational fields as a member of senior leadership teams, David knows the power of collaborative leadership in the promotion of original thought. Therefore, he focusses his contribution on creating learning environments that combine a solid understanding of how people learn with how to grow entrepreneurial insight. 

 

Prior to founding Education Advisory, David has been Director of SAE Institute South Africa; Director of the Council on International Educational Exchange in South Africa; Head of Brand for Educor Holdings; Head of Marketing, Head of Virtual Learning, and Senior Business Development Partner at Henley Business School Africa. David holds degrees from GIBS (MPhil), UCT GSB (MBA), and Middlesex (MA), and is a certified Five Lens individual and team facilitator.

 

David has researched and written extensively on the influence of the human condition in learning, leadership, and organisations.   

Martin Hall

Martin is Emeritus Professor, Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, and an Associate of the Allan Gray Centre for Values Based Leadership. Martin is also a Director and Founding Partner of Artefact Transformation and Facilitation Services, focusing on improving key dimensions in education that can be achieved using digital resources.

 

Prior to the Graduate School of Business, Martin was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford, Manchester (2009-2015), Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Cape Town (2002-2008), and Dean of Higher Education Development, also at the University of Cape Town (1999-2002). Martin was a founding member of the board of The Conversation (UK) and was Chair of the Board of Jisc, the organisation that provides digital services to almost all universities and colleges in Britain. 

 

Martin’s work focuses on the development and delivery of digitally enhanced learning curricula and education technologies across all levels of education, both for place-based face-to-face classes and for fully online engagement. As Chair of the Board of Jisc, Martin was responsible for upgrading and reimagining the suite of digital services across both Further and Higher Education in Britain.  In this capacity, Martin has worked with many organisations, internationally and in South Africa, with projects that range from online secondary schooling, through further and higher education and professional education and enhancement, and into secure digital credentialing. 

Rudi Kimmie

Rudi combines his corporate experience with education to develop the potential of students to meet the demands of professional life.

 

Rudi is former Chief Executive Officer and director of TSIBA Education NPC, a non-profit higher education business school, and was an executive member on the International Consortium for Experiential Learning (ICEL), a Rotary Group Study Exchange Scholar to Japan, and a Global Research Fellow with the Washington based Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP).

 

His career includes Training and Development Coordinator at Finsch Mine (De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd), consultant to the BMW Foundation (Munich) and key positions at the University of KwaZulu-Natal which included Project Coordinator (Aerotropolis Institute Africa), Operations Manager (UKZN Foundation), Business Advisor (InQubate) and Deputy-Director (UNITE Programme). In addition to his academic career, Rudi is also the founder of the Business Organisational and Leadership Development (BOLD) initiative at UKZN, Board member of Iqraa Trust and the Orphans Waqf Fund, and a published writer.

 

Rudi holds a degree in Liberal Arts, Post-Graduate Degrees in Education and Human Resource Management, and a PhD in Leadership Studies. Rudi advises on personal and organisational development, education, and social impact projects.
